Why I Recommend
At full launch price, this was a genuinely hard game to recommend given the reception gap between what Rocksteady’s name implied and what actually shipped. At its current steeply discounted price during Steam sales, the calculation changes considerably, a $3.50-$5 price point for a AAA-budget game with a real single-player campaign and ongoing free content updates is a much easier ask, even accounting for the mixed reviews.
Where I’d manage expectations directly: if you’re going in expecting another Arkham-style game, you’ll likely be disappointed, this is a different genre with different pacing and structure entirely. Go in expecting a loot-shooter with strong traversal mechanics and Rocksteady’s usual strength in character writing and voice work, and it lands considerably better as its own thing rather than as a direct successor to Arkham Knight.
