I’ve burned through a lot of stickman fighting games over the years, most of them forgettable after the first hour. Stickman Hook is fun for a quick session, but it’s built for short bursts, not the kind of RPG depth I actually wanted from a phone game.
Shadow of Death is the one that stuck. It’s built by Zonmob, and it’s a dark fantasy action RPG with a stickman-style combat system, closer in spirit to a side-scrolling hack and slash than a typical mobile clicker. I’d put it in the same category as BeamNG Drive in terms of how much it packs into a small install size without feeling stripped down.
The setup is simple. The kingdom of Aurora has fallen to an ancient darkness, and you play a knight who’s lost his memory but not his purpose. From there it’s straightforward hack and slash: pick a fighter, work through levels, unlock gear, repeat. What keeps it interesting is the character variety. There are 4 distinct fighters, each with a different weapon and playstyle, from close-range slashing to a high-speed scythe build.
Combat feels tighter than most mobile action games I’ve tried. The touch controls are simple enough to pick up in the first level, but there’s enough depth in the skill tree and gear system that button-mashing stops working past the early stages. You’ll need to actually pay attention to timing and positioning once the harder encounters show up.

Why I Recommend
The offline mode is what makes this one worth keeping installed. I play it on commutes with no signal half the time, and the entire campaign runs without a hitch since it doesn’t need a connection. A lot of mobile RPGs quietly require internet even when they’re marketed as offline-friendly. Shadow of Death actually delivers on that.
The 4-character system also gives it more replay value than I expected. Each fighter changes how you approach the same levels, so a stage that felt easy with one character can play completely differently with another. It’s a small design choice that adds a surprising amount of longevity to a game this size.
If mobile action RPGs are your thing, it’s worth browsing our Android Apps section for more titles in the same style. Shadow of Death is a strong starting point if you want something with real combat depth instead of an idle clicker dressed up as an RPG.
