Skin retouching on video footage is a different problem than retouching a still photo. You’re not fixing 1 frame, you’re fixing thousands of them, consistently, without the mask flickering or sliding off the subject’s face. I’ve done this manually in Adobe Premiere Pro before with keyframed masks, and it’s a genuinely painful way to spend an afternoon.
Beauty Box Video 6.0.5 is built by Digital Anarchy specifically to automate that process. It’s a skin retouching and digital makeup plugin for After Effects and Premiere Pro, and this AE & Pr build is the version made to run inside those 2 host apps. I use ReelSmart Motion Blur in the same AE plugin chain, since it smooths motion after Beauty Box has already handled the skin work, and the 2 don’t step on each other’s masks.
The core function is automatic. You apply the filter, let it analyze the footage, dial in a few smoothing settings, and render. Beauty Box identifies skin tones on its own and builds a mask that limits the smoothing and shine reduction to just the skin, so you’re not accidentally softening hair, clothing, or the background along with the face.
Version 6.0 added AI-based shine removal and teeth whitening on top of the existing skin smoothing. The shine removal now builds a separate AI mask around the eyes and mouth specifically, so de-shining the forehead or cheeks no longer risks dulling the eyes or teeth in the process, something earlier versions occasionally struggled with.

Why I Recommend
The automatic masking is what makes this worth the plugin cost over doing it by hand. Manually rotoscoping a face across a multi-minute interview is hours of work that Beauty Box compresses into an analysis pass and a few slider adjustments.
The eye and mouth exclusion on shine removal is a small addition that fixes a real problem. Earlier versions of automatic shine reduction tended to flatten reflections in the eyes along with skin shine, which read as lifeless on camera. Isolating those areas keeps the face looking natural instead of overly processed.
For anyone doing regular interview or talking-head video work, this pairs well with other tools in our Video Editing section, and it’s worth having alongside a photo retouching tool like SkinFiner if your workflow spans both stills and video.
